I love Monster High.....SO MUCH

I worked so hard on this power point to show my friends. So I want to show you guys because I love Monster High so much. I will preface this by saying that this was supposed to be me presenting this to my girlfriends, so it was going to be a lot of me talking, that's why the slides are the way they are. I would also love a good debate about y'alls favorite movie or if you disagree with some of my placements.

PEN15 or My life ?

I had been debating about what to write next, right? Mostly because I have so many ideas, but I have a hard time keeping track of them and/or I forget them. It wasn't until I was going to bed that I had the idea for my next post, and then it turned into me making a new label.....MY TV! I love watching television. Ever since I was little, I have watched so many different shows that I can't NOT have a label about them. I love sitcoms, Canadian shows, British shows, cartoons, anime, old '70s shows, and '50s black-and-white shows. I need to have someone to talk to about them, so I have deemed YOU GUYSSSSS.

The show that gave me inspiration? PEN15

This was truly one of the most authentic and realest shows about growing up as a weird girl, as a certified weird girl myself. What is crazy is that I didn't even watch it first! My parents did, and they found it hilarious and told me that I had to watch it because it's, "Totally me." Oh my GOD. Once I did watch it, I felt so seen and so horrified. Because it was me! I was watching my own experiences on TV and feeling just mortified having to live through those awkward moments all over again. The bad first kiss, the groomer online boyfriend, the witch phase, and even liking boys who are too embarrassed to like you back.

As much as I have Anna's physical stature, I was Maya alllll the way. I was a freaking WERIDOOOOO. Every time my brother comes into my room and sees that I am watching it, he just stares at it, looks at me, and laughs. "Dude.....you." Then LEAVES! I am sitting there looking at the TV, and I'm wondering just how much of a weirdo I was and what my family had to deal with. I was a boy-crazy, loud, overly tall girl with thick black glasses at one point and braces. I think that's why I liked the show so much, because I felt a connection to both of the girls.

I felt that weird, not-so-subtle shame of being different from the people in your school, no matter how much you tried to fit in. How your mom can see that the friends you chose are not treating you kindly, but wants you to make your own decisions about them. Then that leads to you calling her in the middle of the sleepover to come pick you up because you can't stand feeling horrible the whole night. Begging your parents to help you buy expensive birthday gifts for the cool girl's birthday party, even though you know that your parents don't have much to spare, but they love you and want you to fit in too.

Now that I am older and I watch the show, I feel a little bad for little me. The me who always wondered what made her so weird to other people. Maybe if this show had come out earlier, then I wouldn't have felt so alone growing up. I didn't have to wait super long, though. It wasn't until I made it to high school that I found my forever group, that I still hang out with to this day. It's okay to be weird and like what you like. Who deems what is normal and weird anyway? Don't be afraid to be colorful in this boring and beige world.

For all the weirdos out there, you can always find a friend in me.

 hey guys!

I know it has been a hot second since I have written a blog post. I think starting up the blog, decorating it all and figuring out a theme too so much time that I had to take a break. Now that I got to step away for a week, I feel motivated to post. What is funny is I have a post written in my drafts, I just haven't had the time to edit it and add my little funny pictures. I love this blog with all my heart, so I want to be able to give it life and personality it deserves.

Being an older girl boss, it can be hard finding time for the stuff  I do enjoy. I love to read my books with my friends but I get so tired at the end of the day, which is when I usually read in my cozy pjs and have a yummy drink. It's how I feel about the blog sometimes y'know? Writing about my favorite movies or just silly little memories is so fun, but I get so wiped that I find myself doom scrolling for like two hours. I need to be more disciplined and force myself to open my laptop and write. It's hard to stop feeling so paralyzed in bed at times.

This is really just an update so I can tell all my lovely fellow bloggers that it's okay to take some breaks and be real about things. I'm going to try and blog once a week, maybe even twice if I'm feeling snazzy or have the urge to spill some beans. I do have a fun post in my drafts that I am excited about! I even made a funny presentation that I wanted to share with you guys since I made it for my friends beach trip! So I can't wait to post and interact with you guys more! Byeeeeeee

Wattpad...what are you doing babe?

Being a tween in the era of One Direction was the best time of my life, and I am not even remotely kidding. It was the buying every magazine they were on so I could cover my room in the free posters, screaming the music in the car while my mom drove me to volleyball practice, and spending every bit of money I got from chores on merch. It was all so amazing, until I gained unrestricted access to the internet with a little Samsung tablet and opened up a little app called Wattpad.

Guys, I can literally tell you the very first fan fiction I ever read had to do with running into One Direction at a campsite after their tour bus had broken down and needed a place to stay. Looking back on it now, it was definitely an author insert with her and her friends that go to pick and date their different boys. Anywhoo, I was an absolute fiend for stories on this platform. I know I am not the only one who pulled an all-nighter to read One Direction fan-fiction. I would read under my blanket because my mom could walk in any second and take my phone anyway. I read so many different stories like the university AU, the adoption AU, the "she is my sister, and you can't date anyone in the band" AU, and one of my favorites, the fake dating AU. If you were an avid reader at this time, you may have come across a certain AU that made the Wattpad daily active users data skyrocket......"I got sold to one direction"

WHY WAS THE LIKE THE NUMBER ONE AU ON WATTPAD? We were some weirdos eating these stories up. "I throw my hair up in a messy bun, grab my book because I'm not like other girls, and go downstairs in my converse. I see my mom with a cigarette in her mouth, "I need money, so I sold you to some boy band." I turn and my eyes meet five other pairs looking at me. One Direction. Thats when my world turned upside down." LIKE OH MY GODDD IT WAS JUST A COPY AND PASTE OF THE SAME THING OVER AND OVER AGAIN. Yet, even if it was bad and poorly written, you couldn't help but eat them uppppp. What was crazy was that the stories could be super fluffy and have a found-family vibe or just straight up NSFW (You know the ones that made you verify if you were 18. Then lied about your age)

Oh, how the mighty have fallen. See, I grew up, stopped using Wattpad and began using AO3, as is the rite of passage I believe.  So, Wattpad was not on my radar for a long time until I see a story about how it had wiped out thousands of stories because its new guide lines removes anything with NSFW from sexual act to even certain violence. Which I found interesting because these guidelines have always been in place, but never enforced because look at what made them popular.....SEXUAL STORIES ABOUT ONE DIRECTION. Wattpad, did you not have an author publish her her series to be sold and distributed in bookstores? What was it again? Oh yea! A HARRY STYLES FAN FICTION SERIES ABOUT HAVING SEX WITH A GIRL AS A BET. It even got turned into a FREAKING MOVIE FRANCHISE PEOPLE. (I couldn't accept that she changed his name to Harden. Not a vibe)

I think this was a bad move for them because I know there has been an uptick in users for AO3 because of it. Wattpad was a great introduction to your own little bubbles of fandoms. It was a place you could go and just read to your heart's content about whatever you wanted. Now it is heavily censored, and authors are losing their work, as well as people who are losing their favorite stories. Well....I hope you Wattpad users are okay with the learning curve that is AO3, because once you figure it out, there is no going backkkkk.

Whats in my bag?

I love being a woman:

As an older girly, I find myself needing to carry more things. When I was a teenager, I could get away with just carrying my wallet and phone, and that was it. I would just root around in my wallet for the crumbled twenty my mom gave me and give it to my waiter at Chili's. Now that I am in my late twenties....a lady needs to carry so many necessities. I have a small bowler bag from Baggu (I love her), and I find myself stuffing that baby to the gills. Truthfully, I think I need to upgrade to a to a bigger bag, like the Everyday Cloud Bag, that way i can carry more things.

To begin, I am very serious about how I smell. I am a bigger girl and I live in Texas. You do the math. With it being 100-plus-degrees almost everyday, I NEED to carry my perfume, an extra deodorant and alcohol wipes. I have a little stainless steel dove deodorant that I refill and keep in my purse since its compact! The alcohol wipes are self- explanatory because I am acne-prone, and I need to keep stuff wiped down if it touches my face. I also like to carry the Cocokind Calming Magnesium Mist in my purse since its helps keep the inflammation down anddddd its antimicrobial! (I have seen a huge difference in my face and the mist doesn't mess up my makeup.)

Makeup! So, I try and go for a very light-coverage, clean-girl look because of my acne. I like to just keep my Super Stay powder by Maybelline and my e.l.f powder puff for light touch-ups throughout the day. I always keep an eyelash curler on me and a lighter cause I'm crazy and I like to heat up my curler. I WAS GIVEN MY DAD'S STUBBORN, STRAIGHT LASHES THAT GROW DOWN. I gotta do what I gotta do ladies. Next, omg, I'm so excited about this: I just got my first MAC lipstick, and I feel like such a BADDIE. I even asked the MAC counter girl (Thank you, Jessica) to help find a good shade for me. I spent like fifty dollars on the lipglazer in Acai and a Satin matte in Modesty. The best purchase ever, and I will never regret it. I now have an addiction to MAC lipsticks and it will ruin me. For simple days, I like to just have my Burts bees pomegranate and my NYX fat oil in trending topic

For wellness, I like to keep a few things in my purse. I couldn't find a picture of it but I actually keep all my pills and eyedrops in a Cinnamaroll clear pouch. Pouches keep my purse as organized as it can be honestly. I am actually currently looking for another one to keep all my lippies in since I carry so many. (As you can see hehe) So, I actually tend to get tension headaches and ocular migraines from time to time. I have found that ultra strength Excedrin helps me quite a bit, which is why I like to keep it in my purse. Eyedrops because I get serious allergies and dry eye and Midol to help when my period is just a little too unbearable to raw dog it. (I like to go as long as I can without any medication, I refuse to back down)
Then I have my sunscreen stick to reapply throughout the day and my bamboo kotex! (I prefer these since there are toxins and metals in regular tampons and pads, which have been making my cramps unbearable. AWESOME)

Lastly, my little pouches that I use to organize and store my things! MY SISTER GOT ME THE STRAWBERRY! It's so cute, I love it so much and I use it to store my small bills and change. The Hello Kitty blue bag is actually a reusable tote that folds in itself. I use it for some small shopping trips like Ulta and Target! I actually just got the lime coach wallet this month. I had to SCOUR THE INTERNET FOR HERRRRR. I miss when Coach would have fun colors and actually have personality. She is my pride and joy, and I will cherish her to my grave.

That is all I keep in my purse! Honestly, if I could fit more in my purse I truly think I would because you can never have enough stuff in there. I love being a woman so much, men could never get the feeling of grabbing your cute wallet out of your cute purse and then having another woman compliment it. I love you guys! Byeeeee!

Cinema

Movie playlist as I write this:

So to start off with, I have always gone to the movies at least a couple of times a week or every other week for about 20 years. (JESUS IS SOUND OLD) I am a proud member of the Regal Unlimited club where I get free movies for the month at the cost of about 25-ish bucks. Trust me, I earn my money back because I see at minimum 5 movies a month. Even without going to the movies, I consume a fair amount of cinema at home. I like to watch maybe one a day, even if it is in the background while I work!
So this is going to be me rambling about the movies I watched for the week of August 2nd -August 7th! Buckle up Buttercup

I have watched this movie every year on my birthday the moment I turned 16. Even a decade later, and no matter how cheesy it is, I cannot get tired of it. I started watching at like 11:30 p.m. on my birthday night after having a full Korean BBQ and a whole bottle of soju. I have seen this so many times that even as I sat on the floor sloshed and eating cake, I was able to pretty much quote the whole movie. Molly Ringwald in the 80s was truly her primeeeeee. I loved watching all her movies so much as a kid. (OMG I HAVE TWO MOLLY RINGWALD MOVIES IN HERE) I just honestly love the whole cast, which is why I like it, because I also love Michael Schoeffling in Vision Quest, and Anthony Hall in Breakfast club AND Edward Scissorhands. I am telling you guys, I watch so many movies, it's kinda gross. I have literally been torturing my boyfriend for years about the amount of movies I make him watch. I can't wait until I have a girl, and she turns 16, so I can show her this movie (and then tell her to not date a senior when she is a sophomore because that will be super messy). This movie does have a special place in my heart though, because I remember when my own mom showed this movie to me and she watched as I fell in love with the JAKE RYAN. Memoriessss.

Okay, remember when I said I like to torture my boyfriend into watching a lot of movies? I had him watch all of Tom Holland Spider-Man because we were going to go see A Brand New day on Sunday with my family and I wanted him to be prepared! You can't just dive into A New Day!! Especially with how No Way Home ended, I just couldn't allow it. Sigh..... I absolutely adore Spider-man, he was the superhero that I grew up loving. I love Spider-Verse in general because of just how big it is. We have so many different Spider people/ animals who just kick ass! I used to collect Gwen Stacy comics, but I had to calm down and switched over to digitally collecting her. This was a fun watch for me because I got to enjoy it with my boyfriend who had only really seen bits and pieces of them.

I uhmmmmm......I don't know what to say about this one in all honesty. When I first saw this as a kid, I swear it was a fever dream. I could not tell you what compelled us to watch this movie other than it is sooooooo bad that it is hilarious. I know Christopher Walken just had a ball with this movie cause oh my god, it is just too much at times.  I love how there are not many movies about ping pong, and this is one of the few that forces itself to stand out. I will say.....it should not be as funny as it is and leave it at that.

The theater was straight poppinggg when my family went to go see this! They were playing in like five different theaters at once because it is so popular right now. Spent an arm and a leg on drinks and snacks (I only sneak snacks in when I have my big purse and I forgot it. RIP) I won't give any spoilers because I refuse to be that person, but I will say, it was amazing. Unfortunately, no Spider-man movie can top No Way Home for me, not even this one. (That is not including Miles Morales and the Spider-Verse) I loved seeing all the practical effects be so seamless and seeing how Peter has grown up. ALL I WILL SAY IS I LOVE HOW HE PAID HOMAGE TO HIS BROTHERS PETER 2 AND 3. It was nice seeing him carry his brothers with him through the suit so that he didn't feel so alone. Just so much thought and love went into this movie, and I was happy I got to see it in theaters!

(Almost done guys I swear. I have learned from my mistakes and wont do a weeklong movie list again. I have come too far to not finish this post. Bear with me.

ANYTHING. AND I MEAN ANYTHING WITH SAM ROCKWELL, I WILL SEE IN THEATERS IF I CAN. So, I actually saw this movie earlier in the year with my brother in theaters. At first, I wasn't interested because I didn't really hear much about it. It wasn't until he told me that Sam Rockwell would be in it that I would go with him. I AM A WEAK WOMANNNNNN. I actually loved it so much and saw it THREE TIMES in a week because I thought it was so funny, though provoking, and I love me some eye candy. So, I saw it was finally streaming on Hulu and I decided to pick it for the sibling movie night I have with my older brother and sister since my sister hadn't seen it. What I like about the movie is how it made you feel about technology and what it is doing to not only us but our world. I say as I type a very long blogpost about all the movies I have watched this week. It had a decent story line and funny characters that we got some backstory on that I found enjoyable. I think what I like the most about it is how chaotic it is from the very beginning to the end. It's hard for me to start a movie with a long, chaotic dialogue about the future in danger and it's up to a man with a stuffy backpack to fix it and not find it funny.

I did not know this was a book! I would have totally read it before I went to go see it. My dad and I actually saw the preview for this a few months ago, and we were both like, OMG we need to go see this. Once we found out it was playing in theaters, we bolted into our car. To make it even better, I got a free drink for my birthday. Hellll Yeaaaaa. I have been wanting a good romcom lately, and I think this definitely satiated me. I liked seeing the chemistry between our two leads. It made me smile like a loser in the theater. I will also make note that I like Callum Turner in the movie more than Boys in a Boat. To be honest, though those are the only two movies I have seen him in that I can remember. This is the first time I'm meeting Monica Barbaro and I have to say I liked her! (ALSO MOLLY RINGWALD JUMPSCARE??) "She daydreams a lot. Yeah, she does that." No, that is so real. That was like one of my favorite lines of the movie without spoiling it. Sigh, it was just a nice little romcom to wash out all the action-packed and chaotic movies I had watched this week. Definitely made sure my week ended on a good note for sure.

If you stuck out to the end, oh my god, thank you. I will NEVER DO A WEEK-LONG LIST AGAIN. I guess I underestimated how many movies I actually consume. I was like halfway through this list when I was thinking to myself that this was a bad idea and I should have just written about Spider-man. Thank you so much for reading!

From Junie B. Jones to Morally Grey Men

Blasting in my ears at the Library:

So I have a Kindle Unlimited account and it is truly the best money I have spent...... ever.

Growing up, I didn't have the love for reading that I do now. The private school I went to was very adamant about literacy and summer reading. It was full on book reports that we had to turn in before school even started. So, imagine my disdain at being forced to go to the public library, find a book to read ANDDDDD actually finish. I also believe it had to do with the fact that I wasn't very on par with the grade reading level either. Then one day, I happened to stumble across a colorful cover and discovered HER. Junie B. Jones, my queen as I live and breathe.
My mom finally got me my own library card because I had just started devouring those books. She was a brat (like me) and made plenty of mistakes, but by the end of every book there was always some kind of resolution or character growth.Which, in my opinion, is important with children's books because it allows the kids to understand that changing is okay and frankly unavoidable as they grow up. Finding Junie helped me understand that not all books are boring, you just need to find the right one.

Which led me to.....JOHN GREEN.... AND THE 2010 YA DYSTOPIAN ERAAAAAAA

I would like to thank my Mommy personally for funding my book addiction. I was at Half-Price Books and Goodwill just scouring for books to read. This was also the time that Dystopian YA got super popular (Hunger games was my flavor of YA angst). I remember dragging my family to The Hunger Games and The Fault in Our Stars movies the moment they hit the theaters. (Okay? Okay.) (⇦ That was some true love in my 14-year-old eyes). Once this era hit me in middle school, I began to learn about my tastes and interests.

(AT THIS TIME I WOULD LIKE TO DISCLOSE THAT I WAS READING FAN FICTION LIKE A MADWOMAN UNDER MY BLANKET ON A SCHOOL NIGHT AND REFUSE TO ACKNOWLEDGE THAT WATTPAD WAS ALSO THE REASON I STARTED TO LIKE READING. THAT IS A STORY FOR ANOTHER BLOG POST)

It wasn't until I graduated from high school that my reading intake began to dwindle. College took up all my reading time, and not to mention all the reading you have to do in college! I was an English major, so there would be times I  would have to read three or four different passages for one class alone. I want to say it wasn't until the flipping plague hit the world, that I began to read for fun again. Let's be real, quarantine was kind of nice because we got to slow down a bit and do nothing for those two weeks. Then it became hell because I was stuck in a house with my family for wayyyyyy too long.

Now that the world is mostly back to normal, I do what any other twenty-something girl does with her time, scroll on TikTok. With any sort of media that we consume through our phones, it sets algorithms made personally for me. So a couple months ago I had found myself on BookTok and everyone is raving about Sarah J. Maas and Rebecca Yarros and whatnot right? Well I start to get these small romantasy authors that I can't help but look up and they all say the same thing....available in Kindle Unlimited. I was like okay, okAY, OKAY!!! Let me look this thing up and see what all the fuss is about. Oh my god.

There was a sale going on at the time that I looked into the prices and I couldn't pass up three months for eight dollars. This was where I fudged up....I did not leave my room or sleep for at least a week because I was just chowing DOWNNNN on some romance books of all types. I had mafia bosses, rich vampires, why choose alphas, shapeshifting krakens, and many, many morally grey men. I DON'T REMEMBER THE LAST TIME I WAS READING SINGULAR BOOKS IN A DAY. It got to the point where I was collecting badges and awards for being such a "bookworm". I was like mmm....no, I am reading about krakens stealing their human mates to live in their underwater castles to dote on them for the rest of their lives.

To sum up my very long-winded rant about books.....you should invest in Kindle Unlimited. YOU DON'T EVEN NEED TO BUY A KINDLE, JUST DOWNLOAD THE APP. You will not regret it because I guarantee you, you will hit your reading goals for the year. I think just within the last few months of owning the membership I have read about 30 books. Yes, they vary from 150 to about 500-ish pages, but it's still a book. It's like having access to a whole other library on your phone that knows exactly what you like and gives you new suggestions. To all the Kindle Unlimited authors...... Thank You.
